 Q:What is a "Loaded" U-Cup, and when is it necessary?

A loaded U-cup features an O-ring (or similar energizer) fitted inside the "U" channel. This provides immediate low-pressure radial sealing force and prevents the seal lips from collapsing under severe vibration or sudden pressure drops. It is highly recommended for erratic pressure environments.

Q:Can a U-Ring replace an O-Ring securely?

If the application involves dynamic reciprocating motion, a U-Ring should absolutely replace an O-Ring. O-Rings are primarily for static sealing; if used dynamically under high pressure, they will twist (spiral failure) and extrude. U-Cups are specifically profile-engineered for directional dynamic friction.
