If your housing (bore) is made of a softer material like aluminum, or if the bore has significant thermal expansion or roughness, choose the Rubber OD (TC) seal as it conforms better and seals minor imperfections. Steel housings running at very high pressure or speeds generally favor the structural rigidity of a Metal OD (TB) seal.
