❓ Does Cold Shrink tubing have a shelf life?

Yes. Unlike heat shrink which can sit on a shelf for a decade, cold shrink tubing is physically stretched over its plastic core. Over a very long time, the rubber can slowly lose its "memory" (compression set) and fail to shrink completely. Our high-grade silicone is engineered to maintain full shrink capability for 1 to 2 years when stored in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight.

❓ Do I need to use mastic tape with cold shrink?

If you are sealing a uniform, cylindrical cable, the cold shrink tube provides a perfect seal on its own. However, if you are sealing a connector with irregular geometries or deep threads, we highly recommend wrapping the joint in silicone mastic tape first to fill the voids, and then deploying the cold shrink tube over the mastic for a flawless IP68 seal.

❓ How do I remove a silicone cold shrink tube once installed?

Cold shrink forms a permanent, high-pressure grip. It cannot be unrolled or pulled off. To remove it for maintenance, you must carefully slice it longitudinally with a utility knife and peel it away. Be extremely careful not to cut into the underlying cable jacket.
