NBR Material Description
NBR O-Ring is a sealing ring made from Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR), a copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene. It is typically produced through low-temperature emulsion polymerization, resulting in excellent oil resistance, abrasion resistance, heat resistance, and strong adhesion to various materials.
NBR is one of the most widely used oil-resistant elastomers in the sealing industry. The acrylonitrile content in NBR usually varies between 18% and 50%, which directly affects its oil and cold resistance properties.
The higher the acrylonitrile content, the better the oil resistance; however, the cold resistance decreases accordingly. Conversely, lower acrylonitrile content improves flexibility and low-temperature performance.
Owing to its unique balance of mechanical strength and chemical stability, NBR has become an essential sealing material in the automotive, hydraulic, pneumatic, petroleum, and industrial machinery fields.
